The Unfolding Reed

 

A Silent Grace

Slender green reeds gently sway in a soft breeze against a blurred background of calm water and distant greenery under a soft, overcast sky.
The wind arrives... It bends the reed, a testament to trust, and pushes it along its winding course.


The wind arrives, not with a sudden gust,

But with a patient, unrelenting force.

No brittle snap, no violent, sudden break,

The reed accepts the pressure, day by day.

It moves in rhythm for the river's sake,

And finds a quiet, uncomplaining way.

This is the grace of knowing when to yield,

To find your strength in giving with the flow.

A hidden power, carefully concealed,

That teaches everything the heart must know.


The Return to Stillness

And when the gust has faded, and is gone,

The reed returns to its unbothered state.

It finds the sunlight, and it greets the dawn,

Unchanged in spirit, though it faced its fate.

No scars are left upon its gentle form,

No sign of battle with the passing air.

It stands again, defiant of the storm,

A silent victor, standing rooted there.

This is the strength that doesn't need to fight,

Or stand unmoving 'gainst the coming blow.

It finds its power in the simple light,

That only quiet, humble spirits know.


A Gentle Enduring

So bend a little, let the pressure pass,

And know the quiet wisdom of the reed.

For strength is not a form of solid glass,

But soft endurance, a resilient creed.

And you will find, when all the storms have ceased,

A deeper grace, a more forgiving heart.

A lasting peace that brings a great release,

And sets you gently back to where you start.

Night's Unlit Path of Thought With every passing moment, the body aches and the core begs.  A restless yearning in the quiet of night, patiently awaiting your return. Unruly Yearning I was in mood to misbehave.  I told him so while he was at work.  He later laid out his terms, and I accepted.  But the moment we hung up, I returned with these words: "Yes, you spoke, but with every passing moment. The Irrepressible Ache my body aches for your touch.  My very core can't seem to stand still;  she just keeps on begging.  The more I try to keep her at bay, to quell this vibrant fire, to make my spirit wait, the more she calls out your name, a siren's song, a wild, insistent fate. A Battle Within My thoughts, a tangled thread, unwinding in the dark, each one a vivid image, leaving its potent mark. I pace the silent rooms, where shadows softly creep, and conjure your returning in the moments I can't sleep.
