The Grains of Yesterday

 by days that drift and climb, as time unfolds a river, slow and wide.

A Shifting Grain

The clock's soft chime, a whisper in the quiet, Marks moments melting, flowing ever on. A single breath, a fleeting, tender riot, Before the current carries it to dawn. The dreams we held, like pebbles in the stream, Are smoothed by hours, by days that drift and climb. A golden light, once sharp, a vibrant gleam, Now softened by the gentle hand of time. Each cherished scene, a ghost upon the breeze, Recalled in fragments, beautiful and frail. Lost to the currents, drifting through the trees, A fading whisper, or a distant trail.

The Enduring Echo

Yet not all vanishes to silent dust, Some echoes cling, defying every year. A feeling's pulse, a love, a quiet trust, That time refines, making its purpose clear. The heart remembers, not the path precisely, But sunlight caught, a laughter, pure and deep. A timeless truth, etched in the soul concisely, The promises a waking mind can keep. Though shadows lengthen, and the season turns, The essence holds, a beacon ever bright. A fire softly, constantly that burns, Illuminating memory's softest light.

Now's Gentle Tide

So time unfolds, a river, slow and wide, Carrying dreams from shores of long ago. And in this current, we serenely glide, Where past and present gently ebb and flow. The reminiscence, not a yearning pain, But grateful solace, for the moments shared. A quiet wisdom, washed by sun and rain, For every fleeting dream the heart has dared. And in the 'now,' a gentle, rising tide, We find the truth that memory has taught. With time as witness, standing by our side, A life well-lived, a journey finely wrought.

Night's Unlit Path of Thought With every passing moment, the body aches and the core begs.  A restless yearning in the quiet of night, patiently awaiting your return. Unruly Yearning I was in mood to misbehave.  I told him so while he was at work.  He later laid out his terms, and I accepted.  But the moment we hung up, I returned with these words: "Yes, you spoke, but with every passing moment. The Irrepressible Ache my body aches for your touch.  My very core can't seem to stand still;  she just keeps on begging.  The more I try to keep her at bay, to quell this vibrant fire, to make my spirit wait, the more she calls out your name, a siren's song, a wild, insistent fate. A Battle Within My thoughts, a tangled thread, unwinding in the dark, each one a vivid image, leaving its potent mark. I pace the silent rooms, where shadows softly creep, and conjure your returning in the moments I can't sleep.
